The group thanked GSE for an experience they described as special and memorable, praised the organisation and attention to their welfare, and expressed their enthusiasm for future collaboration and exchanges.
THE VISIT
Shared values. New perspectives.
In 2025, Global School Exchanges brought a group of UK school leaders to India for a partnership-building visit. The programme combined visits to three schools with meetings, conversations with staff and students, and cultural experiences.
The purpose was to create space for educators to learn from one another and consider how relationships between their schools could broaden the horizons of teachers and young people.

CONNECT
Time together makes partnership possible
Participants toured schools, met senior leaders and staff, and discussed their educational priorities. Their feedback repeatedly highlighted the warmth of the welcome and the generosity of their hosts.
One participant described a highlight as: “Meeting inspirational leaders and exploring our shared values on education for our young people.”
These conversations helped the group begin thinking about future exchanges and ways to involve their wider school communities.
EXPERIENCE
Understanding a country through its people
The cultural programme added another dimension to the school visits. Participants recalled the Ganges, a temple visit, gardens in Delhi, food, saris and henna. An unexpected opportunity to join an Indian wedding celebration became a particularly memorable experience for one delegate.
Alongside the formal programme, these encounters gave the group opportunities to ask questions, challenge assumptions and experience life beyond their own familiar surroundings.
BEYOND THE VISIT
Opening opportunities for young people
The group returned with ideas for future collaboration and an interest in developing exchanges. Their reflections show how an initial leadership visit can help schools identify shared interests and begin planning opportunities for their students.
For GSE, that is the wider purpose of international school connections: helping young people broaden their minds, encounter different perspectives and feel more confident engaging with the world.
