Ella Capaldi, Head of School at Park Community School, travelled to India in November 2025 for a programme bringing together school immersion, cultural exploration and a conference in Chennai.
Dr Kasturi Bose, Global School Exchanges’ South East Asia Director, accompanied Ella for part of the visit.

Learning in action
The programme began with a visit to SKV in Gwalior, with accommodation on the school premises and time set aside to explore its day-to-day activities.
For a visiting school leader, spending time within a host school provides a setting for conversation about education and an opportunity to see a different school environment first-hand.
The itinerary also included time to explore Gwalior, with the fort and Jai Vilas Palace among the planned visits.

Beyond the classroom
From Gwalior, the itinerary continued through Agra and Jaipur, combining cultural visits with practical consideration of the travel experience.
The planned route included the Taj Mahal and Fatehpur Sikri, followed by Jaipur’s Hawa Mahal, City Palace and Amer Fort. Time for risk assessment was included in the Jaipur programme.
This combination of school time and cultural exploration placed the educational visit within a wider introduction to India.
Professional exchange
The final part of the programme took Ella to Chennai for a two-day conference, before returning to the UK via Delhi.
The photographs from the visit capture conference sessions, discussion and cultural performances—another dimension to a journey that brought together school life and professional exchange.
With Dr Kasturi Bose joining part of the trip, the visit also brought Park Community School’s leadership together with GSE’s South East Asia team.
