ERASMUS+ HUB
The Erasmus+ Programme is Back!
The UK’s re-entry into the Erasmus+ programme opens a major new chapter in grant-funded international exchange in Europe.
Erasmus+ can fund school trips and teacher travel across Europe. The UK is contributing £570 million for 2027/28 across the programme.
Our proposed GSE Consortium intends to help UK schools access that funding.
OPEN THE DOORS TO EUROPE
The Erasmus+ Programme puts international learning within reach of more British students, teachers and school leaders. With UK participation returning from September 2027, schools can plan and apply for funding to support enriching exchanges with European partners.
From a first visit to a long-term school partnership, to teacher training opportunities abroad, to curriculum development, this is an opportunity to make international collaboration part of everyday school life.
The British Council has been announced as the UK National Agency for Erasmus+, helping organisations prepare for the programme’s return and access funding opportunities.

“THAT ALL SOUNDS GREAT!
BUT HOW MUCH WORK IS THE APPLICATION?”
A SHARED APPROACH: ERASMUS+ CONSORTIUM
We recognise that a successful Erasmus+ project takes significant time, expertise and resources - often beyond what schools and busy staff can provide alone. That is why we intend to bring our UK partner schools together in a proposed GSE-led consortium.
As the proposed coordinator, GSE would manage the application on behalf of member schools, receive and allocate any awarded Erasmus+ funding, plan and deliver agreed programmes, monitor their quality and impact, and manage reporting to the UK National Agency.
Schools would help shape the plan, nominate a school lead, select and prepare participants, and work with us on safeguarding and learning outcomes. We would agree the responsibilities and funding arrangements with each school before it commits.
We are preparing an application for the 2027/28 academic year, with a February 2027 application deadline anticipated. The exact date will be confirmed in the 2027 call. Our consortium remains proposed and is subject to approval.
